Taita Taveta Gavana John Mruttu apinga marufuku uchawi kutoka Tanzania

Wundanyi, KENYA:

“LET us never forget that government is ourselves and not an alien power over us. The ultimate rulers of our democracy are not a President and senators and governors and government officials, but the voters of this country,

environmental watchdogs

As residents we can report those of us who cut down our trees for proper action to be taken. Let us make this our collective responsibility for the sake of our future.
Conservation of our environment is not something that one person can.achieve working alone. If everyone can grow just one tree every year, during your birthday for instance, this will be a good start. Seedlings offered by the County will therefore be supplementary.

Cutting down of indigenous trees degrades the environment leading to the current state of affairs; water sources drying up, prolonged drought, desertification, unpredictable weather conditions and increased human wildlife conflict.
We highly condemn such vices and call for appropriate measures to be taken for the perpetrators.
Cut a tree, grow three.

My predictions

At his jovial mood , this style will be the year 2017 . My predictions, what of your opinions ! .

why boy child

In our world today, things have completely changed. People have started caring for the girl child more than they do the boy.

It is believed that most of the Kenya communities neglected the baby girl in the past. For example, not taking her to school as they believed the only benefit from a girl was dowry. Ever since women started standing up for their rights, it seems now things have changed and the boy child is now being ignored.

Nowadays, you find many organisations formed in the name of helping girls and forgetting boys, yes it is true that a girl is more fragile but it does not mean boys also don't have to be looked after.

According to the research in Kisii and Nyamira counties, through the Ministry of Education, the number of boys in schools has dropped tremendously. It has been proven that these boys drop pout of school to become bodaboda operators.

This has led to a lot of deaths in the area amongst the youth because they do not even go to driving school to learn how to go about the road rules and, therefore, die in grisly motorbike accidents.

Therefore, we need to take care of both genders so that we can make a better future for them. No gender is more superior than the other.

Taita men:

The Taita have some of the best, poetically speaking, which is really good when it comes to ‘tuning’ a woman. Women adore the Mwandawiros and Mwang’ombes believing ‘Kiswahili yao ni mambo yote’ and are thus in demand from Kaptagat to Kaloleni. They are not only light-skinned and calm, but also collected when making decisions. They are most women’s dream.
Positive: The Wadawidas are very romantic and know how to tune (sweet talk) women. Even better than the Omondis. Most Taita men are also irresistible lookers.

Negative: Most eat small food rations and are thus ‘pin weights.’ They are “Yes” men, conformist bootlickers who are easily controlled by those in authority. They are ridiculously loyal. Ever wondered why Kibaki and Kenyatta chose Taita men as their aide-de-camp? They love sex and booze (which makes them behave like they are high on cheap Oriental herbs). Taita men are also vulgar and uncouth, spewing unprintables; embarrassing you in front of your girlfriends, when provoked.

Shocking Facts About Taita Women

Below we unearth some of the characteristics of Taita women.

They are extremely beautiful
Taita women are the most beautiful women in Kenya, second to none. Unlike other tribes who undergo skin bleaching to have a light skin; Taita women are naturally beautiful.

They are very good in bed
Those who have slept with them describe them as extremely good in bed. Once you sleep with a Taita woman, you will not have time to look for any other woman in Kenya, unless you are bewitched.
These women are very sweet in bed.

They are good cooks
If you need delicious pilau or finger licking chicken then court a Taita woman.

They are Lazy
Taita women are known to be slow in everything, unless they want to impress.
Men always complain that these women are never in a hurry to do anything. Therefore, making it hard for any man who intends to exceed his target.

They are not so intelligent
Though they are beautiful, Taita women are ranked average when it comes to IQ.So,your children will definitely be average in class

Your governor

I wish to publicly condemn the recent inhumane and vicious attacks on our Kenyan sisters, daughters and mothers in these recent weeks. I am also deeply saddened to hear that one of the victims has today succumbed to her injuries and passed on at a hospital in Nairobi (her attackers stoned her).
There can be no justification for such acts. As a leader, a father and a man, I urge my fellow men within our County and the country at large to be the protectors of our sisters and not their attackers.
Our County is also facing similar challenges with numerous cases of sexual assault against women and children being reported. Our County government in conjunction with the Central government security arms is committed to protecting the rights and lives of all within the County and eradicating any forms of abuse against the vulnerable in our society, children, women, the disabled, our elderly etc.

Let us all do our part in protecting the vulnerable people within our society. Let us focus on tackling our pressing issues such as hunger, education, development and disease and not turn against each other. And lastly let us respect our women.
Your governor

The County Government has today donated 800Kg of Maize and 200 Kg of beans to families living with orphans.
Speaking in Wundanyi Sub County moments after donating food, Taita Taveta County First lady, Mrs. Hope Mruttu applauded families providing shelter, food and clothing to orphans in the County saying they have saved the lives of many children.

"Adopting these children gives them hope for the future. If it was not for your big loving hearts all these children would be roaming in the streets. As a mother i therefore thank you with all my heart," said Mrs. Mruttu.
Mrs. Mruttu urged political leaders and non-governmental organization to priorities vulnerable children when giving out bursary and other support.
On behalf of the caregivers, their chair Mrs. Hope Wawuda acknowleged the county government and the first lady for issuing them with foodstuffs saying it is a timely intervention as the county faces drought season.
"Most of the time we have seen relief food being taken to children's home and the elderly. It is good that our County first lady has remembered us as families who are taking care of orphans in our homes. I am sure this will not be the last day," she said.
This comes after the National Drought Management Authority (NDMA) issued drought alert for 10 counties including Taita Taveta as counties experiencing a decline in food and livestock production.

VOI

Voi is the largest town in Taita-Taveta County in southern Kenya, in the former Coast Province. It lies at the western edge of the Taru Desert, south and west of the Tsavo East National Park. The Sagala Hills are to the south. Voi is also a municipality.
Voi is a marketplace for the agricultural and meat products from the fertile Taita Hills as well as other surrounding areas.[1] Voi's town centre consists of mostly general stores, shops, markets, kiosks and a few hotels. Most lodges that service tourists for the national park are located in the suburbs at the edge of town. The Voi Sisal Estates are located to the west of the town. A large squatter community exists in the Mwatate Sisal Estates, also to the west of town.[3]
According to local history the name of town comes from a slave trader called Chief Kivoi who settled near the Voi River about 400 years ago. There after the village grew as a trading centre for the local Taita people with other Kenyan tribes and Arabs.
The town started to grow at the end of the 19th century when the Uganda Railway was constructed. People started to move in to work on the railway and the nearby sisal estates.[4] However, township status with an area of about 16.27 square kilometres (6.28 sq mi)[5] was not granted until 1932. The town has long since outgrown the original grant.[1]

what can you say about this ?

“Insecurity in the Coastal region has badly affected tourism. The tourism activities are now very low and bed occupancy is currently between ten to 20 per cent. Something must be done to rectify the situation,”

Short Story About Wadawida

The Taita people are a Bantu tribe living in the Taita Hills on Kenya's southwest, near the Tanzania border and surrounding plains.
What is known as the Taita tribe actually consists of three separate but closely-related tribes: Wadawida (or Taita), Wasaghala (Sagalla) and Wataveta (Taveta).
The languages of these three tribes are very similar to each other and to the Swahili language.
The languages also bear some similarity to the language spoken by the Chagga people of Tanzania. The Wadawida tribe is the largest of the three, numbering about 300,000 people as of the last population census.

The beautiful Taita hills

The Taita hills consist of three main hills: Dawida, Saghala, and Kasighau. Dawida is by far the most massive, fertile, and densely populated area of the Taita tribe. The Wadawida living on the slopes of this hill practice different forms of agriculture, selling the bulk of the food they produce to the residents of Coast Province, especially to those living in Mombasa.
On the plains surrounding the Taita hills lays the expansive Tsavo West National Game Park. Before Tsavo was turned into a national game reserve, these plains were important game-hunting grounds for the Taita tribe.

History of the Taita tribe

Historians believe that the Taitas migrated from Central Africa alongside other Bantu tribes, arriving in present day Kenya from the south through Shungwaya before finally settling in the fertile Taita hills. The hills provided the Taita with refuge from raids and attacks by the neighboring Maasai tribe.

Culture and lifestyle of the of the Taita people

Taita people have since assimilated with many western values and most of their traditional cultures have faded away. Traditionally, one of the most important aspects of Taita tribal culture was male circumcision. Circumcision was considered an important ritual in training young boys, normally aged between 7 and 11 years, to take on more adult responsibilities. Traditional circumcision no longer takes place in most parts of Taita, as many parents opt to have the operation done in a hospital.
One very unique aspect of Taita culture is the respect accorded to the dead. In the past, when a person died, they were buried for a period of about one year, at which time their body would be exhumed. The skull would be severed from the rest of the body and taken to a sacred cave - their "proper" abode with the ancestors. While this is no longer practiced today, the caves where the skulls can still be found are treated as sacred in many parts of Taita.

Taitas and Music

The Taita people have always enjoyed expressing themselves through music. They had many interesting forms of traditional dance, the most fascinating of which was the pepo spirit-possession dance called Mwazindika. This and other traditional dances have since died off and are now only performed during national holidays. Members of the Taita tribe are, however, still very talented musically. The late Fadhili Williams of the hit song Malaika was one of many recent Taita musicians.

Taita belief, faith and religion

Today, most Taita people are Christians, though a considerable number are Muslim. Taita traditional religion revolved around the spirits of the ancestors. While Taitas believed in one supreme god, Mlungu, this god was only called upon, and given sacrifices for appeasement or thanksgiving, in times of calamity and misfortune, including droughts, locust invasions, barrenness, and famine. In "normal" times, sacrifices were made to the ancestors or household gods, milimu. Only a small number of Taitas still practice their traditional religious faith.

Economic activities of the Taita people

Being an agricultural society in a fertile land, most Taitas practice agriculture as their main economic activity. Horticultural production has recently become an important economic pursuit in the Taita hills. Taitas also rear dairy cattle and produce most of the milk supply for Kenya's Coast Province. They also grow coffee.
Gemstone mining is primarily done in the drier parts of Taita land, where large deposits of precious stones such as ruby, tanzanite and garnet can be found.

The Taita's staple food

The traditional diet of the Taita consisted of bananas, pumpkins, cassava, beans, sweet potatoes, cowpeas, and millet. Occasionally, this diet would be supplemented with game meat hunted from the plains. However, once the Taita started growing maize (corn), and after the government restricted hunting, ugali and green cooked vegetables, especially became their staple food.
Kimanga (a mashed combination of beans plus either cassava, sweet potatoes, pumpkins, or bananas) is still a traditional Taita delicacy prepared during special occasions. It is often accompanied by mbangara, a traditional Taita drink made of sugarcane, corn or cassava.
